US Navy SEALs
On November 22, 2013, in tribute to President John F. Kennedy, a special wreath was placed at The Tomb of the Unknowns with Navy SEALs and Carmella LaSpada who served as a White House Special Projects Aide to President Kennedy.
She thought it would be meaningful to have the SEALs be part of this tribute, since President Kennedy in 1962 called for the creation of a new military force with the ability to perform clandestine operations in maritime and riverine environments. The US Navy established SEAL (SEA, Air, Land) Teams One and Two to answer the call. In the center of this historic wreath, is a photo of President Kennedy including the last sentence of his Inaugural Address: “God’s work must truly be our own.”
The wreath is surrounded by 46 red silk roses, honoring the 46 years of this great man’s life. He was God’s gift to America. It was made possible with the generosity of Dave Hope of The Flower Gallery, John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and artist Bill Janocha, NGL Board Member.
